As part of a broader corporate growth strategy, lululemon athletica has decided to relocate their corporate headquarters from a refurbished warehouse in East Vancouver to new office space within Busby Perkins+Will's mixed-use Cross Roads development. The new headquarters will be distributed over four and a half floors, housing 250-300 employees in studio-based offices and prototype production facilities.
lululemon is well-known for its inclusive and non-hierarchical work environment. With a large, open stairway as its focal point, the office will maximize employee circulation and interaction. Employees will have access to the building's large landscaped podium and fitness facilities, and the design team will integrate dedicated yoga spaces into the heart of the office.
The design concept is based upon a west coast feel, will focus on natural daylight and bringing the outdoors in, and project the youth and vitality that lululemon is known for. Busby Perkins+Will is involved in programming, including focus group meetings and visioning sessions with lululemon staff and management, and development of the overall concept design. The firm will create a master plan for colours, materials, lighting, and finishes for the project in addition to the development of space plans. Busby Perkins+Will will also prepare detailed FF&E plans and participate in the selection, management, and procurement of furniture systems, private offices, meeting and board rooms, and all ancillary furniture.
The project will be Busby Perkins+Will's first building completed under LEED-Commercial Interiors, with LEED Silver mandated and LEED Gold expected.
