Busby Perkins+Will was founded upon a deep-seated belief in social and environmental responsibility. The body of work completed by the
firm has been a powerful catalyst in the growth of the green architecture movement in Canada. The firm's 2004 merger with renowned
US-based architectural practice Perkins+Will has proven to be a significant step in expanding the range and application of leading-edge
sustainable design in North America and around the world. Busby Perkins+Will's green leadership has now been given a larger stage and is
influencing an expanding audience.
The firm has created two living handbooks that codified their goals and tactics: the
Sustainable Design Initiative (SDI) Strategic Plan,
which provides a roadmap to become the leading sustainable design firm in the world; and the
Green Operations Plan, which is a comprehensive
guide to ensure that the firms facilities and day-to-day operations are environmentally responsible.
The firm was also the first multi-office company to commit to the 2030 Challenge, by which it has pledged that all projects will
be designed to be carbon neutral by 2030.
